Five-Forks
is an unincorporated community in Calhoun County in central West Virginia. It lies along West Virginia Route 16, north of the town of Grantsville. The elevation of Five Forks is 1,106 feet. Calhoun County is home to five public parks, The Upper West Fork Park in Chloe on West Virginia Route 16, which offers free rough camping and free bluegrass music on summer Saturdays. The West Fork Park in Arnoldsburg on U.S. Route 33 hosts the annual Molasses Festival, and also has camping and a walking trail. Mt. Zion Park on West Virginia Route 16 hosts the annual Ox Roast. Calhoun County Park on West Virginia Route 16 offers hiking and bicycle trails. The latter is also home to Heritage Village, a group of historic buildings moved to the location then renovated to period history and includes a one room school house and a general store. Wayne Underwood Park in Grantsville is the countys newest park, and includes a paved walking trail, a pavilion, and picnic tables. Calhoun County hosts the annual Ramp Festival in April, the West Virginia Wood Festival in June, the Bluegrass Festival in May, another Bluegrass Festival in August. Other special events include the West Virginia Molasses Festival in September, an Octoberfest Celebration and the Hometown Country Christmas Craft show the first week of December.

Northern West Virginia has a four-season climate classified as humid continental. July is the average warmest month, with an average high temperature of 85. The average coolest month is January with an average low temperature of 21. Snowfall can occur anytime from late November to mid-April, with the most amounts falling during January and February. However, it is rare for a major snowstorm to hit this area. Rainfall is spread out fairly evenly over the entire year. Thunderstorms are frequent during the late spring and throughout the summer, and occasionally can be quite violent. Tornadoes are very rare in the state of West Virginia. The driest period tends to be during the autumn months of September and October. Spring is the most unpredictable season. It's not unusual in the springtime for a warm, sunny day to be followed immediately by a chilly, rainy day.
