Slatyfork
is an unincorporated community located in Pocahontas County in southeastern West Virginia. It's located along U.S. Route 219 about 13.5 miles north of the town of Marlinton. Located in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest, Slatyfork is the perfect setting to enjoy the great outdoors of southeastern West Virginia. Slatyfork Farm is an exclusive and well-established community. It's within minutes to the entrance of Snowshoe Mountain Resort, which is one of the finest four season resorts in the Eastern United States. Slatyfork Farm is a beautiful 400-plus acre property, encompassing two mountainsides, a lush green valley and a pristine forest. The farm currently consists of a private residential community located primarily on the west side of the mountains, with over 60 large home sites and approximately 40 beautiful existing homes. The farm is also home to Slatyfork Village, which is a highly visible commercial area fronting Highway 219 and at the entrance to the private residential community. Activities in the area include mountain biking, hiking, skiing, white water rafting, fishing and camping. There are also several small town festivals in the area, including the Little Levels Heritage Fair in nearby Hillsboro.

Slatyfork Weather & Climate

Northeastern West Virginia has a four-season, mountainous climate. Due to its high elevation, this region has a somewhat cooler, moister climate than surrounding areas at lower altitudes. Summers are mild and humid with high temperatures ranging from the 60s to low 70s F. Summer low temperatures average 50-55 F, although temperatures below freezing have been recorded in every month of the year. The elevation and geographic location allows it to receive significant upslope snow, particularly during prolonged periods of northwesterly winds coming off the Great Lakes. Located along the spine of the central Appalachian Mountains, this region is often near the southwestern extreme of Nor'easters, getting significant snowfall from strong, Atlantic moisture-laden, easterly winds. Annual snowfall averages 160 inches.
